In one word this was the most amazing experience from our 8 day Swiss tour.īest to visit Mt. This was my third visit to Switzerland, but the very first to Mt. Other then the negatives, I would visit again and allow myself more time to explore. One rule for all not just for us!! I’m not an anti masker, I forgot it. Also the amount of distance you have to walk just to get to a toilet! Also the rudeness of some of the staff here is a disgrace! The woman in the shop next to the war tunnels has a bad attitude and would not show my daughter where the magnets were when asked! I wasn’t allowed in the shop due to not having my mask and she couldn’t even be polite about that! Also, if you’re going to enforce mask wearing then at least tell your staff to put their masks right over their face instead of just under their noses. Negative points for me is the bad signage and the lack of information boards to tell you what things are. Picnic is probably a better option if there a few of you. Cafe serves half decent food but overpriced as always at these places. Tunnels are fab and views from the top of the tower are great. You’ll want to download an offline map, or screenshot our directions for guidance - a map will be preferable though, because this walk had so many turns, it was hard to describe it with 100% accuracy.A massive place, so allow I’d say half a day of not all of it to visit.

The first 4km up to Lose Hill are easy to follow, but there are some turns after that which are not obvious - especially the sections across farmland between Lose Hill and Castleton, and Cave Dale and Mam Tor. The terrain is generally good, but the path up or down Cave Dale (depending on which direction you choose to walk) is made up of loose stones and can be a little slippery even when dry.įor the most part, the circuit is not signposted. If you want to complete the longer circuit walk, there’s plenty more elevation gain, but the climbs are broken up with a fair amount of flat track. It’s well maintained stone steps, which though steep are not slippery (when dry) and it only takes 10-15 minutes each way. If you simply want to walk to the top of Mam Tor and back, you’re basically climbing one path all the way.
